"Вий" (Vij) by Nikolay Gogol (Николай Гоголь) from 1835 is one of the scariest stories in the Russian Literature. There you will find a witch and evil spirits, who won't let you fell asleep at night! Vij itself is a Slavic demonical creature, that has long eyelids so it cannot open its eyes without someone's help, but when it opens eyes, it can see everything, that was hidden and can even kill with only one look! In this video, I will also tell you about the screen versions of this story from 1967, 1996 and 2014. One of the screen versions is considered as the first and the scariest horror story in USSR cinematography.
